About Me

My photo
Welcome to my blog. I'm a Mississippi country girl transplanted to Grapevine, TX. I have been blessed with a great husband, and my kiddos, Aleck and Ella. When I'm not eating bon bons on the couch, I am my kid's room mom, PTA member, Sunday School teacher, taxi driver, amateur photographer and personal chef. When I'm not doing those things, I'm running a small jewelry business, 2nd Amendment Jewelry (www.2ndamendmentjewelry.com), that I started with my twin sister, Glenda. It's a crazy and busy life, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world. I am so thankful for all the blessings in my life!

8 Months

Ella, my sweet angel. It is so hard to believe 8 months have already passed since you were born. I love you so much and can't remember what life was like before you.

You love your brother, Aleck. He can make you squeal with delight. You get so excited and your arms wave frantically in the air when he plays with you. I recently started bathing you guys together and you have so much fun. You splash with your hands, and kick with your feet. The minute the bath water starts running, you bounce up and down with excitement because you know what is coming next. It's absolutely adorable.

Some of your favorite foods include apples, banana, squash, rice cereal, pear and asparagus. You prefer fruits, just like your brother. You HATE english peas and avocado. I started giving you rice puffs and cheerios last week and now you can get them in your mouth by yourself. Of course, for every one that makes it to your mouth, five are scattered around your high chair.

You continue to breastfeed first thing in the morning, before naps, after meals and at bedtime. We have to be in a quite room with no distractions when you nurse. If Aleck comes in your room to talk or play, you refuse to stay latched on. A couple of weeks ago, I gave you a bottle of formula for the first time. Aleck never had formula. You drank the whole bottle. You have had several bottles of formula since then. I will continue to almost exclusively breastfeed you, and just reserve the formula for when we are away from the house since it is nearly impossible to get you to nurse if there is the slightest distraction.

You are now on a consistent schedule, which started around 6 1/2 months. You wake around 7 a.m. Around 10 a.m., you go down for your first nap, which typically lasts 1 1/2 hours. You take your second nap around 3 p.m. and it is usually only an hour. You sleep 12 hours a night.
You can move all over the room by pulling yourself on your elbows. You push up on all fours and rock back and forth, and can even lift an arm and reach while on all fours. You will be crawling before we know it.

Your first tooth, the left central incisor, broke through March 3rd. You chew on everything, but aren't really fussy when you teeth.
Like Aleck, you love to jump in the johnny jumper that suspends from the door frame. You love to play with Aleck's cars and trains, although I have to watch you to make sure you don't put them in your mouth. You LOVE to stand, with my help, at Aleck's train table and bang the trains around. Aleck loves it when Mommy and Ella "play trains" with him. You love to play peek-a-boo and for Mommy to blow raspberries on your tummy.
You adore Daddy, and light up every time he walks in the door. Some nights, Daddy gives you a bottle before bedtime. He says that is such a special time for him.
You are laid back and do a pretty good job of entertaining yourself, but when you are ready for Mommy's attention, you definitely let me know.
Daddy had to lower your bed today because for the first time you pushed up to a sitting position today. I was so happy to see you accomplish a new milestone, but saddened a little at the thought that my little girl is growing up.
Lord, thank you for these precious memories.
