About Me

My photo
Welcome to my blog. I'm a Mississippi country girl transplanted to Grapevine, TX. I have been blessed with a great husband, and my kiddos, Aleck and Ella. When I'm not eating bon bons on the couch, I am my kid's room mom, PTA member, Sunday School teacher, taxi driver, amateur photographer and personal chef. When I'm not doing those things, I'm running a small jewelry business, 2nd Amendment Jewelry (www.2ndamendmentjewelry.com), that I started with my twin sister, Glenda. It's a crazy and busy life, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world. I am so thankful for all the blessings in my life!

Sweet Ella,

I can’t believe you are already one.  It seems like I blinked and the last year flew by.  We were in San Diego on vacation on your birthday and we spent the day at the San Diego Zoo.

You took your first steps June 12th, while Aunt Glenda, Jessica and Tyler were visiting.  I think Daddy and Aunt Glenda were the first people to see you take a step.  You spent the next few weeks dabbling in walking, but you still crawled a good bit.  In the last week, you have decided that walking really is all the rage.  Even though you take frequent tumbles, you jump right back up.

You now have 6 teeth.  Your top right, second from midline came in around 11 months.  I’m sorry that I missed your 11 month post.  We traveled to Mississippi and Alabama to see family, and that was a busy month for Mommy.

After having such good sleep habits early on, you are waking once or twice a night.  I’m not sure what is going on, but I think it may be a combination of two trips back to back, coupled with teething.  My Dear Ella, Mommy could use eight hours straight a night.  I really shouldn’t complain, because Aleck didn’t sleep through the night until at least 18 months.  I remind myself that I will one day very soon miss those 2 a.m. wakings when the entire house is asleep and you and I are cuddling in your rocking chair.  These precious moments are fleeting and I want to remember every single second of life with you at this very stage.  You are down to one nap a day, somewhere around 10 a.m., for 1 1/2 hours.

You adore Aleck.  You can’t really say his name yet, but you make this throaty sound and I know you are calling your big brother.  It is so adorable.  Aleck adores you, too.  He shows you off at his Mother’s Day Out by hugging you and telling his friends, “this is my baby sista, Ella”.

You are such a little girl.  You love dolls and shoes!  You will get two different pairs of shoes out of your closet and you can’t decide  which pair you want to wear.  No sooner than I put one pair on your feet, you are grunting holding up the other pair for me to put on.  Sometimes, you settle for one shoe from one pair on one foot, and one shoe from the other pair on the other foot.

You had a princess birthday cake, complete with a wand and a tiara.  You love wearing that tiara!

You have been completely done with baby food for at least a month.  As long I cut the food into small pieces, you can eat everything we eat.  You are showing signs that you might become a picky eater.  At your age, Aleck would eat everything I put on his plate.  I’m not so lucky with you.  You do like all fruit and many vegetables.  We are starting cow’s milk.  You have had some formula, mainly when we travel, but for the most part you are still breastfed, nursing 3 to 4 times a day.

You adore your Daddy.  You run to the door when he comes home and you smile from ear to ear.

Ella Bella, no matter how old you are, you will always be mommy’s little girl.
