It is a St. Vincent’s tradition that birthdays are celebrated by the child receiving a birthday blessing during chapel. We were a week late due to Ella being under the weather last Monday, but Tom and I attended chapel this morning for Aleck’s birthday blessing. Aleck was so proud to have both Mommy and Daddy with him at chapel today. After receiving his blessing, Aleck presented Father Foster with the book God Gave Us You by Lisa Tawn Bergren. The book helps children understand that they are a blessing and it was perfect for the occasion. The book is a donation for the school library and the library will recognize Aleck’s donation inside the cover.
Aleck also got to wear a blue ribbon recognizing him as celebrating a birthday. The ribbon has the prayer that we said in chapel on it. Since it was all I could do to talk him in to taking the ribbon off to be scanned for my blog post, I’m pretty sure he will want to sleep with that ribbon tonight.
