About Me

My photo
Welcome to my blog. I'm a Mississippi country girl transplanted to Grapevine, TX. I have been blessed with a great husband, and my kiddos, Aleck and Ella. When I'm not eating bon bons on the couch, I am my kid's room mom, PTA member, Sunday School teacher, taxi driver, amateur photographer and personal chef. When I'm not doing those things, I'm running a small jewelry business, 2nd Amendment Jewelry (www.2ndamendmentjewelry.com), that I started with my twin sister, Glenda. It's a crazy and busy life, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world. I am so thankful for all the blessings in my life!

Who’s Scared of Monsters?

Tom absolutely loves Halloween.  It’s his favorite holiday.  Every year, we add a little more to our decorations.  Tom is out of town at a pipe band competition, but that didn’t stop us from  decorating the house.  We hung a monster on the front door that has a motion sensor.  When you knock on the door, or even make a loud noise, the monster moans.  Ella is terrified of the thing.  She followed me around the rest of the evening wanting me to hold her because she was afraid of monsters.  After a monster week at preschool last week, you would think that Aleck would be fine with the decorations.  Multiple times last week he said, “monsters aren’t real.”   Well, that was last week; this is this week.  When he went to bed, Aleck insisted that we leave his lamp on.  This kid usually sleeps in the dark.  I have a feeling that I’m going to wake up in the morning with two little munchkins cuddled up beside me, which would be fine, except for the fact that both my kids train for the Olympic gymnastics team in their sleep.  Oh well, sleep is overrated.
