About Me

My photo
Welcome to my blog. I'm a Mississippi country girl transplanted to Grapevine, TX. I have been blessed with a great husband, and my kiddos, Aleck and Ella. When I'm not eating bon bons on the couch, I am my kid's room mom, PTA member, Sunday School teacher, taxi driver, amateur photographer and personal chef. When I'm not doing those things, I'm running a small jewelry business, 2nd Amendment Jewelry (www.2ndamendmentjewelry.com), that I started with my twin sister, Glenda. It's a crazy and busy life, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world. I am so thankful for all the blessings in my life!

Precious Memories

Tom and I had a date tonight and Eryn came over to watch Aleck. Eryn was finishing her laundry and she stayed for a while after Tom and I got home and went to bed. Aleck woke up crying and I was about to get out of bed to check on him when I heard through the baby monitor that Eryn had gone in to check on Aleck and put him back to bed. I had tears in my eyes as I listened to Eryn comfort him and ask him if he wanted to rock. Aleck adores Eryn and he is so blessed to have such a loving big sis.

Beautiful Baby Girl Brooks

This is our first profile picture of Baby Girl Brooks. Isn't she beautiful? I am amazed that when I compare her ultrasound with Aleck's profile ultrasound picture, that I can actually make out differences in their facial features. During the ultrasound, we were able to watch her opening and closing her mouth, and counted her tiny little fingers and toes. She is beginning to move more and Tom felt her for the first time last week. Even though many of my friends think I am crazy for saying this, I absolutely love being pregnant and embrace watching my belly grow. I'm 19 weeks today, almost halfway there.

Walk with Papaw Hartness

I was catching up on editing photos tonight and ran across a picture I took of Aleck and my Dad last October and just had to share it. My parents live in the country on 90 acres and Aleck loves to visit because there is so much to see and do.

Nightime Prayers

Before Aleck goes to sleep at night, we say his bedtime prayers. We thank God for all our blessings and the people we love. Last night while Aleck and I were rocking before bed, Aleck started naming people, "nanna, oppo (pappaw), issy (sissy), addy (daddy), momma". It took me a minute to realize what he was doing, but he had started saying his bedtime prayer on his own naming the people he could remember. I thank God for all of these precious moments that he gives me with Aleck.

Fort Worth Zoo

We have a membership at the Fort Worth Zoo and Aleck and I go when the weather allows. We usually only spend an hour or two and just see small portions of the zoo at a time. This trip, we visited the birds and although Aleck was a little hesitant, he did muster the courage to feed a bird from his feeding stick. Mainly though, he wanted Mommy to hold the stick and feed the birds.

Visit to Aunt Glenda's House

Two posts in two days and a new blog layout. Wow, I bet you guys don't know how to act. "I'm back!"

----------------------------

My sister, Glenda, lives on this beautiful piece of land out in the country. They have a pond in the front yard and you can walk outside in your PJs to feed the ducks. They have goats, chicken, rabbits and dogs. Aleck has so much fun visiting. The calmness and simplicity of living in the country is so therapeutic for me. I love our visits!

----------------------------
I have returned from my blogging sabbatical. Both Aleck and I were under the weather the majority of January, and I just didn't have the energy to do anything more than the absolute basics, and blogging is not an absolute basic of life.
I got an amazing camera for Christmas, the Nikon D90, so you can look forward to more posts as I learn the art of photography with a great camera.

Fort Worth Stock Show

Aleck and I joined some friends at the Fort Worth Stock Show last weekend. Unfortunately, Tom couldn't join us because he had to work.

Aleck, Presley and Brooke.

Alan and Rita joined us with their twin boys, Clay and Josh.

Alan was so nice to take Aleck on rides since I'm pregnant and couldn't get on the rides.
