About Me

My photo
Welcome to my blog. I'm a Mississippi country girl transplanted to Grapevine, TX. I have been blessed with a great husband, and my kiddos, Aleck and Ella. When I'm not eating bon bons on the couch, I am my kid's room mom, PTA member, Sunday School teacher, taxi driver, amateur photographer and personal chef. When I'm not doing those things, I'm running a small jewelry business, 2nd Amendment Jewelry (www.2ndamendmentjewelry.com), that I started with my twin sister, Glenda. It's a crazy and busy life, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world. I am so thankful for all the blessings in my life!

Playdate with Brooke and Presley

Aleck has been suffering from separation anxiety more than ever. I can't get a workout in at the gym because he cries and wants to be held while he is in the childcare facility. Dede and I have met at the gym twice to work out together, and both times I had to leave after 20 minutes. Today we had a play date at Dede's house with Presley and Brooke. Hopefully, if Aleck plays enough with the girls, he will play with them at the gym and let Mommy and Dede get a workout in.

When we first got to Dede's house, Aleck clung to me. When he saw all the different toys, it didn't take him long to get down and play. Aleck needs to work on sharing. I'm pretty sure he was trying to get Presley off the riding toy. I love the look on Brooke's face when she is carrying the stuffed animal. Both girls are absolutely adorable.
Aleck had a great time. Thanks Dede! You are awesome!

Aleck and Eryn

Aleck LOVES his big sis, Eryn. Some mornings he wakes her up standing outside her bedroom bumping the door and talking to her through the door. I must say, Eryn does not find this nearly as adorable as I do.
He gets so excited when she gets home from school. He talks to her 90 miles an hour. Man, I would love to know what he is saying.

Fort Worth Main Street Arts Festival

Tom was out of town this past weekend at a pipe band competition, but Aleck and I went to the Fort Worth Arts Festival. It was crowded and at times difficult to navigate the crowd with a stroller, but we had a great time. We stopped to watch a jazz ensemble and Aleck was mesmerized by the drums. When I let him out of his stroller, Aleck made a bee line to the drum set. He wanted to play those drums so bad. I finally had to put Aleck back in his stroller because he was fixated on playing those drums. I had to explain to the drummer that my husband is a drummer and Aleck LOVES drums. I think the guy was flattered by all the attention he received from Aleck.

Visiting Rufus

Rufus is a friend that I made three years ago. We really hit if off from the beginning because he reminds me so much of my Dad. Aleck and I have visited Rufus several times. Aleck runs wild in the huge back yard. Rufus is great with Aleck. I think Rufus enjoys taking Aleck for a ride on the electric scooter as much as Aleck enjoys the ride.
Often we get too busy to make time for the people we care about. I hope I can teach Aleck how important it is to slow down and enjoy the small things in life.

Aleck loves to vacuum

Aleck has a new favorite toy. He will push this little vacuum around forever and make sounds with his mouth pretending he is vacuuming. He was so focused on what he was doing and I think he really thought he was vacuuming like Mommy does. It was the cutest thing ever.

Aleck and Tom playing the guitar

Aleck absolutely loves music. When he was a baby, sometimes the only thing that could sooth AJ to sleep was his Dad singing and playing the guitar. What sweet memories of Tom standing over AJ's crib singing him to sleep. I am truly blessed.

As you can see from the pictures, without any help, AJ can climb up on the couch....and the fireplace, and the coffee table, and his rocking horse, and his dump truck. I can't take my eyes off him!

Playtime on the back deck

I put a baby gate on the back deck to keep Aleck out of the pool and we have been spending more time playing in the back yard. Aleck loves picking up sticks. I will be so glad when he stops trying to put them in his mouth.

Aleck was making the cutest sounds when he pushed his car around. It sounded like he was imitating the sound a car engine makes. He had a blast pushing the car through the door of his playhouse.

Pictures with Jessica and Tyler

I took these pictures last month when we visited family in Mississippi. Jessica and Tyler, my sister's children, absolutely adore Aleck. They are so good with Aleck and keep him busy playing, which of course I love, because Mommy gets a break. Aleck loves being outside and Jessica had her work cut out keeping him out of the lake. My parents have a beautiful piece of land and Aleck can run wild when we visit them. Needless to say, he loves visiting Mamaw and Papaw Hartness.

Aleck's Birthday Party in Mississippi

I'm trying to catch up on pictures I took over the last month. These are pictures from AJ's birthday party with my family in Mississippi. Unfortunately, the family picture is blurry. My batteries in my camera went dead at exactly the same time that Aleck decided NO MORE PICTURES! The family picture includes my parents, my twin sister, Glenda, my brother, Brian, his wife, Heather, and their kids, Preston and Connor.

Easter pictures

These are some pictures from the easter egg hunt at church. Unfortunately, Aleck was not cooperating with pictures so I didn't get a good family picture.

Aleck's Birthday Party in Alabama

We visited Alabama last month and Aleck had an early birthday party with family. Papaw Brooks birthday is March 20th, so Aleck and he shared a birthday cake. Aleck Jefferson, was named after Papaw Brooks. If you look at the cake, one end has Aleck's name and birthdate and the other end has Papaw Brooks name and birthdate. This was such a special celebration. Aleck got into the cake and Papaw Brooks got a chuckle out of Aleck getting icing everywhere. This was Aleck's first time to eat cake and HE LOVED IT!

Aleck got this adorable hat from Aunt Darla and Uncle Paul and looked so cute with the hat turned sideways.

I had to be fast with my camera to snap a picture with Aleck sitting in Nana's lap. For those of you that have been around AJ, you know he runs 90 miles an hour and rarely sits still long enough for a picture.
