About Me

- Brenda
- Welcome to my blog. I'm a Mississippi country girl transplanted to Grapevine, TX. I have been blessed with a great husband, and my kiddos, Aleck and Ella. When I'm not eating bon bons on the couch, I am my kid's room mom, PTA member, Sunday School teacher, taxi driver, amateur photographer and personal chef. When I'm not doing those things, I'm running a small jewelry business, 2nd Amendment Jewelry (www.2ndamendmentjewelry.com), that I started with my twin sister, Glenda. It's a crazy and busy life, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world. I am so thankful for all the blessings in my life!

Father’s Day 2010
We were so blessed to spend Father’s Day with Poppo Brooks this year. For Poppo’s gift, I made a book filled with family pictures of all our trips back to Oxford since Tom and I married.

Tough guy in a Cinderella dress
In a class of nine kids, Aleck is one of only two boys at his mother's day out program. For several weeks, he has come home saying, "I pay Cindawella aday" (I play Cinderella today). I asked his teachers if he dresses up as Cinderella and sure enough, he and Zain, the other little boy, take turns wearing the Cinderella dress. One day when I picked Aleck up from school, he had to pull me into the classroom to show me the dress. Tom is not super happy about this, but he tolerates it.
We have been planning a trip to the beach in July. At first, we were going to Florida, but with the oil spill, that just wasn't the best plan. We decided to visit San Diego. One morning Tom and I were talking about plans for the trip. Tom said, "You know, the surf will be cold in San Diego and Aleck won't want to play in the water." I looked at Aleck and said, "AJ, tell Daddy you are a tough guy." Aleck didn't miss a beat when he quickly spouted out, "I pay Cindawella aday at school." Uhmmm, Aleck, that's not exactly what Mommy said.

Aleck: "Mommy, wook at Ella. Aw, that's so sweet."

Peek A Boo
Please note that the loud music in the background was actually Aleck playing with a toy guitar. There is a reason that the toy spends most of it's time "lost" in our house.
