About Me

My photo
Welcome to my blog. I'm a Mississippi country girl transplanted to Grapevine, TX. I have been blessed with a great husband, and my kiddos, Aleck and Ella. When I'm not eating bon bons on the couch, I am my kid's room mom, PTA member, Sunday School teacher, taxi driver, amateur photographer and personal chef. When I'm not doing those things, I'm running a small jewelry business, 2nd Amendment Jewelry (www.2ndamendmentjewelry.com), that I started with my twin sister, Glenda. It's a crazy and busy life, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world. I am so thankful for all the blessings in my life!

Gingerbread House

While Ella napped, Aleck and I took advantage of a chance to decorate a gingerbread house.  The kit came with a plastic tray that held the structure in place and made it so easy for Aleck to assemble, with my help to spread the icing.  With all the candy that Aleck and I ate, I am surprised any made it on the house.  Ella woke up before we finished and she and Daddy got in on snacking on some royal icing.

After the house was completed, we gradually continued to eat the candy out of the icing.  It took a couple of weeks, but we eventually got every last piece.  I was getting ready to put the house in the trash and Aleck saw that last piece of candy and just had to have it.  Did you know that royal icing gets really hard?  I had to use a knife to pry the last couple of pieces of candy out.  We really don’t keep candy around because I have no will power so poor little kid had to eat the gingerbread house.  All that stuff is edible, right?
